The Princeton High School Scholastic Bowl varsity and JV teams competed Saturday at the La Salle-Peru High School Invitational “Nerd Bowl.”
Princeton junior varsity took first place in its division, defeating Geneseo, Putnam County, Kaneland, Streator and Sterling. Leading scorers for JV were Trevyn Munson with 33 toss-ups, followed by Aiden Robinson with nine and Hanna Claiborne with six.
Varsity took third in its division, winning against Geneseo, Kaneland and Sterling. Leading scorers for varsity were Max Wilborn with 13 toss-ups, followed by Clayton Rokosz with 12 and Gavin Pinter with 10.
Earlier that week, Princeton varsity started Three Rivers Conference play Jan. 9 with a forfeit win against Hall. The Tigers then took on Kewanee and defeated the Boilermakers 420 to 110. The top scorers were Max Wilborn with six toss-ups, followed by Clayton Rokosz, Tim Lewis and Gavin Pinter with two toss-ups a piece.
Princeton played Mendota and Riverdale on Monday at home, followed by the Tiger Cup invitational tournament on Saturday, Jan. 18, also at PHS.
