The La Salle Public Library, 305 Marquette St., announced its January schedule of events and programs.
Book Club: 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 – The library’s “Bring Your Own Book Club” will be meeting to discuss the latest reads. This group is open to all, even if you haven’t read in a while but want to get back into it. This is the perfect opportunity to pick up some recommendations and simply discuss literature.
Teen Lounge: 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 – The library will reopen to teenagers looking for somewhere to hang out. The lounge will be stocked with board games, snacks and a Nintendo Switch for gaming. This program is open to all teens ages 13 to 18. All attendees must be picked up by 5 p.m.
Survival of the Thickest: 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 –Comedian, actress and producer Michelle Buteau joins a conversation with Greta Johnsen. Buteau is the creator/writer/star of the Netflix series “Survival of the Thickest,” inspired by her autobiographical book of essays of the same name. She also is the host of two popular reality competition shows, “The Circle” and “Barbecue Showdown” and hosts the popular podcast “Adulting.” In 2024, she starred in “Babes” alongside fellow comedian/actress Ilana Glazer. “Tarzan” Story Time: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 – Renowned explorers Jane Porter and her father Archimedes Porter will be visiting the library for a “Tarzan” story time. They are fresh off their jungle expedition and are very excited to read some stories about the jungle, animals and the strange man they found who had been raised by apes. They’ll also sing a song and teach kids how to communicate with gorillas! This story time is geared toward children and is presented in cooperation with Stage 212’s upcoming production of “Tarzan: The Musical.” No registration is required.
“The Thirteenth Olympian:" 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 – Playwright and songwriter Cameron Dingerson will be at the library discussing his brand-new musical “The Thirteenth Olympian” and his seven-year journey in bringing it to life. Registration for this virtual program can be found through the La Salle Public Library Program Portal.
