Reddick Library in Ottawa’s newest book club will meet Thursday, Nov. 21.
Food for Thought: Cookbook Club, for adults, will examine “Dinner in One” by Melissa Clark. New members are welcome to join. Participants will be asked to make a recipe out of the cookbook prior to each meeting and share their opinion of the results. Copies of the cookbook will be available for check out from the library.

1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20: Mystery Monday Book Club, adults. “A Curious Beginning” by Deanna Raybourn will be discussed. New members are welcome to join this librarian-led in person book club. Copies of the book are available for check out from the library. Book Summary: In London 1887, newly orphaned Veronica Speedwell finally is free to go on world travels in pursuit of scientific inquiry and the occasional romantic dalliance. But fate has other plans, as Veronica discovers when she thwarts her own abduction with the help of an enigmatic German baron, who has ties to her mysterious past.
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20: Dungeons & Dragons, seventh through 12th grades. Find out what quest your Dungeon Master has created for you. Will you survive? Will you accomplish your goals?
10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21: Ready, Set, Read!, Ages 3 to 6 years. Join the library for a fun story time featuring music, movement activities, singalongs, literacy games, crafts, and stories. This event is for children ages 3-6 years.
6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21: LEGO Club, all ages. Do you love to build with LEGOs? Then this program is for you. We will pick a theme and you’ll build your own creation to match. LEGO creations will be on display in the children’s department.
10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22: Shake, Rattle, Read! ages 9 months to 3 years. Sing, dance, craft and create priceless memories at this fun interactive story time planned especially for the younger crowd.
3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22: Creepy Coffee Book Club, ninth through 12th grades. Hey spooky readers! The library has a new horror themed book club for high schoolers. Meet at Jeremiah Joe Coffee’s 807 La Salle St. location to discuss this month’s theme: Gothic horror. Suggestions that fit this month’s theme will be available for check out in the Teen Room.
4 to 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22: Kid’s Book Club, kindergarten through second grade. This month the library will be discussing “Rosie Revere, Engineer” by Andrea Beaty to celebrate kid inventors. The group also will engineer its own hovercrafts. Copies of the book will be available for check out in the children’s department.
7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23: Love and Laughs with Michelle Buteau: Illinois Libraries Present, virtual program. Join comedian, actress and producer Michelle Buteau in conversation with Greta Johnsen. Buteeau is the creator/writer/star of the Netflix series “Survival of the Thickest,” inspired by her autobiographical book of essays of the same name. She also is the host of two popular reality competition shows - “The Circle” and “Barbecue Showdown,” and hosts the popular podcast, “Adulting.” In 2024, she starred in “Babes” alongside fellow comedian/actress Ilana Glazer.
