Agency to allocate $1.1 million for projects

Mendota will get about half the funds needed to replace two bridges near Black Brothers.

Monday, the Mendota City Council authorized a joint funding agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation. The agency will allocate up to half the estimated $1.1 million needed to replace two bridges on Fifth Street at Eighth Avenue and Ninth Avenue, respectively.

In a related item, the council completed an agreement with Black Brothers Co. The company had to disclose to IDOT the economic benefits of the bridge replacement.
