Gardeners looking to start seeds can learn from local experts before spring begins at a free seed-starting workshop in Streator hosted by the Bureau, La Salle, Marshall-Putnam Master Gardener program.
The workshop will go from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, at Streator Public Library, 130 S. Park St.
Participants will receive hands-on demonstrations and guidance from Master Gardeners on essential seed-starting techniques, including soil types, containers, temperature, light and moisture requirements for vegetables, herbs and flowers.
“Seed starting can be a tricky process, and we’re excited to help new and seasoned gardeners gain confidence in their abilities,” Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Program Coordinator for the University of Illinois Extension Bettyann Harrison said in a news release.
The session is open to gardeners of all ages and experience levels.
All supplies for the workshop will be provided at no cost. Registration is required at go.illinois.edu/streatorseeds. Early registration is encouraged to hold a spot.
