Streator Elementary School Board begins search for new superintendent

Streator Elementary School District 44 Superintendent Kelli Virgil is set to leave the district to take over as the new superintendent of Rock Falls Elementary School District 13.

Virgil will remain with the Streator Elementary district until the end of her contract, which expires at the end of June. Virgil will succeed Rock Falls Elementary School District 13 Superintendent Dan Arickx, who announced he will retire at the end of the current school year.

Streator Elementary School District 44 Board President Angela Risley expressed appreciation for Virgil’s work in Streator.

“The Board of Education thanks Ms. Virgil for her dedication during her time with Streator Elementary District 44,” Risley said.

Risley said the board will begin searching for a new superintendent immediately.

She emphasized the search process will include multiple parties within the district and community to find the right fit.

“The Board of Education is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will begin the process of searching for a new superintendent immediately,” Risley said. “This will include engaging stakeholders and community members to ensure we find a leader who aligns with our district’s goals and values.”

Updates on the search will be shared by the board as they become available.
