Cards in the office of Jeff Keicher, R-Sycamore, Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, that will soon be delivered to local seniors living in residential care facilities as part of “Valentines for Seniors” a card drive sponsored by Keicher and State Sen. Dave Syverson, R-Rockford.

State Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, is extending the deadline for her annual Valentines for Seniors card drive to Feb. 10.

The initiative aims to bring joy to residents of long-term care and assisted-living facilities by delivering heartfelt Valentine’s Day cards from community members, Rezin’s office said in a news release.

“Each year, I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown by our community through this initiative,” Rezin said in the release. “Extending the deadline ensures that even more people can take part in brightening a senior’s day with a simple, thoughtful message.”

Rezin is encouraging churches, schools and individuals across the 38th Senate District to participate by writing Valentine’s Day cards with messages of kindness and appreciation. The cards will be delivered to seniors across the district.

Cards can be dropped off or mailed until Feb. 10 at one of Rezin’s district offices:

  • Morris – 1802 N. Division St., Suite 314
  • Peru – 350 Fifth St., Suite 264
  • DeKalb – 850 Fourth St.

Additionally, cards can be dropped off at the Yorkville Public Library, 902 Game Farm Road.
