Boys basketball

Bureau Valley 50 Hall 47: Logan Philhower hit a 3-pointer with 44.6 left and Elijah Endress made a steal and layup to lift the Storm to a nonconference win over former Three Rivers rival Hall in a Saturday matinee at Spring Valley.

Endress led the Storm with 24 points, pouring in 17 in the second half. Hulsing added nine points.

Jack Jablonski scored a team-high 16 points for the Red Devils with Chace Sterling adding 10 and Grey Bickett and Braden Curran nine each.

St. Bede 61, Amboy 52 (OT): The Bruins went into overtime to score nonconference win over the Clippers at Amboy.

For St. Bede, Gino Ferrari had 15 points, Kaden Nauman 13 and Carson Riva 10.

Amboy’s Eddie Jones led all scorers with 23 points.

Wrestling

St. Bede Regional: Princeton had four regional champions and six qualifiers to advance to the Oregon Sectional.

The Tigers (176.5) placed second as a team behind Sandwich (209).

Regional champs for Princeton were Augustus Swanson (120), Kane Dauber (132), Casey Etheridge (165) and Cade Odell (285).

Ace Christiansen placed second at 144 while Jacob Paull was third at 113.

Brayden Bickett (106), Allister Swanson (126), Corbin Brown (138), Eli Berlin (190) and Ian Morris (215) all placed fourth, but did not advance.

St. Bede qualified five wrestlers, including regional champions Michael Benge (113) and Garrett Connelly (190).

Other Bruins qualifiers were runners-up Max Moreno (126) and Andre Pineda (157) and third-place finisher Jordan Coventry (165).

St. Bede’s Jack Maschmann (175) and Grady Gillan (285) placed fourth.

Putnam County-Hall’s Alex Tucker advanced taking third at 190. Cayden Bouxsein (150) was fourth.

Girls basketball

Bureau Valley 86, Galva 44: The Storm had a record-setting night, scoring the most points in school history while winning their debut in the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament at Kewanee Wethersfield on Saturday.

The 86 points tops the 84 points scored by the 1997-98 Storm squad.

All 11 players scored for the Storm, making 15 3-pointers, led by Libby Endress with 16 points,Kadyn Haage with 15 and Brynley Doty with 13.

The Storm will play ROWVA-Williamsfield at 7:30 p.m. Monday back at Wethersfield.
