Illinois Valley Public Action to Deliver Shelter in Ottawa is another donation closer to building a new facility after a $30,000 boost from Financial Plus Credit Union.
According to a Friday news release from Financial Plus, the donation is part of a broader fundraising effort aimed at providing enhanced services to the homeless population in the Illinois Valley.
The new 11,000-square-foot facility will offer improved living spaces, dedicated rooms for families and additional support services to better address the needs of those experiencing homelessness, according to the release.
“By supporting Illinois Valley PADS, the credit union is playing a pivotal role in expanding shelter capacity and improving the quality of life for individuals and families facing homelessness,” according to the release, “This contribution aligns with Financial Plus Credit Union’s mission to provide exceptional service to members and support community initiatives.”
The new facility is expected to alleviate overcrowding, offer specialized rooms for families and provide dedicated spaces for case management professionals to deliver essential support services.
In 2024, Financial Plus employees volunteered more than 1,200 hours to community events and organizations in need throughout the 10-county region they serve, the credit union said in a news release.
PADS has been actively working to raise funds for the new building. The organization continues to seek support from local businesses, municipalities and community members.
