Reddick library in Ottawa to host Valentine’s, anti-Valentine’s day activities

Reddick Library in Ottawa will have events the week of Feb. 10 for children who want to celebrate Valentine’s Day and those who aren’t in the mood for it.

A Valentine’s Card Make and Take for children of all ages is scheduled 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the library. Stop by the Children’s Department to make a Valentine’s card and/or Valentine mouse for someone special as supplies last.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, the library will host an anti-Valentine’s Day event for seventh through 12th graders. Come out for breakup songs, board games and snacks as dark as your heart.

6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10: Board of Trustees Meeting. The public is invited to attend the monthly board of trustees meeting.

10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11: Ready, Set, Read! ages 3-6 years. Join the library for a fun story time featuring music, movement activities, singalongs, literacy games, crafts and stories.

10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12: Shake, Rattle, Read! 9 to 36 months. Sing, dance, craft and create priceless memories at this fun interactive story time planned especially for the younger crowd.

4 to 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12: Board Games, third through sixth grades. Bring your friends to this event where we go old school and play some classic board games.

7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12: Wednesday Evening Book Group, adults. “This Is How it Always,” Isby Laurie Frankel will be discussed at this patron-led book group.

6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13: The Health Benefits of Chocolate, adults. Susan Glassman, University of Illinois Extension & Wellness Educator, will teach this class about the surprising health benefits of chocolate and provide delicious samples to enjoy.

1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15: Loop Group, adults. Learn to knit and crochet in a friendly environment from knowledgeable people.
