GIRLS BASKETBALL

La Salle-Peru 65, Prairie Central 27: Brie Ruppert scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Cavaliers to a victory in their final pool play game in the Ottawa Holiday Tournament.

Elli Sines had 12 points and eight rebounds for L-P, while Emma Jereb, Alexus Hines and Maggie Boudreau scored nine points each.

L-P starts bracket play Saturday.

Newman 63, Earlville 14: Jessie Miller had four points and four steals as the Red Raiders lost in the Polo Tournament.

Bailey Miller added two points and eight rebounds for Earlville.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Fieldcrest 40, Heyworth 39: Ed Lorton and Jordan Heider scored 14 points each as the Knights edged the Hornets in their Heart of Illinois Conference opener in Minonk.

Earlville 43, Amboy 37: The Red Raiders earned a nonconference victory in Earlville.

Rock Falls 59, Mendota 40: The Trojans lost a nonconference game in Mendota.

Somonauk 60, Putnam County 24: The Panthers led 7-6 after the first quarter but eventually lost the nonconference game in Granville.

Annawan 72, Henry-Senachwine 24: The Mallards lost to the undefeated Braves in a nonconference game in Annawan.

GIRLS BOWLING

La Salle-Peru 3,214, Rochelle 2,311: Anna Ricci rolled a 682 series to lead the Cavaliers to an Interstate 8 Conference victory at T-Byrd Lanes in Rochelle.

Kamryn Oscepinski bowled a 540 series for L-P, while Camryn Perra added a 513 series.

BOYS BOWLING

La Salle-Peru 3,038, Kaneland 2,690: Aiden McCray rolled a 664 series, including a 255 high game, to help the Cavaliers to an Interstate 8 Conference win at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru.

Marquis Lorenzi had a 546 series for L-P, while Zach Quick added a 502 series.

BOYS SWIMMING

La Salle-Peru co-op 89, Morris 89: Tucker Ditchfield and Johnathan Neu each won a pair of individual events as the Cavaliers swam to a tie with Morris in Morris.

Ditchfield won the 200-meter freestyle (2:15.89) and the 100 freestyle (1:04.68), while Neu won the 200 IM (2:29.91) and the 100 backstroke (1:08.96).

Neu also swam on two winning relays, swimming with Bo Weitl, Brian Lowery and Vince Wargo to win the 200 medley relay (2:06.29) and teaming with Weitl, Ditchfield and Lowery to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:52.42).

Other winners for L-P were Lowery in the 400 freestyle (5:00.18), Weitl in the 100 butterfly (1:09.34) and Caleb Strand in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.25).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Lincoln Land 66, IVCC 65 (OT): Roderick Watson-Pearcey poured in 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the Eagles fell short in a nonconference game in Springfield.

Roko Jurasovic had 10 points and had nine rebounds for IVCC (6-9), while Qu’amar Hobbs added eight points and seven rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Lincoln Land 126, IVCC 21: Jasmine Garman scored 13 points as the Eagles (2-9) lost a nonconference game in Springfield.
