GIRLS BASKETBALL

Fieldcrest 57, Serena 51: Macy Gochanour poured in 24 points Thursday to lead the Knights to a victory in pool play at the Lady Bruins Christmas Classic in Peru.

TeriLynn Timmerman added 14 points for Fieldcrest (7-5).

Fieldcrest 64, Brimfield 57: Gochanour exploded for 36 points as the Knights improved to 2-0 in pool play at the Lady Bruins Christmas Classic in Peru.

Timmerman had 14 points for Fieldcrest, while Pru Mangan added 10 points.

Brimfield 49, Putnam County 48: Eme Bouxsein and Maggie Spratt each scored 13 points as the Panthers came up just short in the Lady Bruins Christmas Classic in Peru.

Addy Leatherman added 11 points for PC.

Henry-Senachwine 43, Earlville 21: Lauren Harbison had 18 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists as the Mallards opened the Earlville Holiday Tournament with a victory over the hosts.

Kaitlyn Anderson added 12 points, seven rebounds, six steals and a block for Henry, which will face Parkview Christian in Friday’s semifinals.

Elizabeth Vazquez had six points and two steals for the Red Raiders.

BOYS BASKETBALL

St. Bede 60, Elmwood 44: Mason Ross scored 16 points as the No. 5-seeded Bruins beat the No. 4 Trojans in the first round of the Princeville Holiday Tournament in Princeville.

Carson Riva added 12 points for St. Bede, which plays No. 1 Brimfield in Friday’s semifinals.

Brimfield 66, Henry-Senachwine 36: The No. 8-seeded Mallards lost to the No. 1 Indians in the first round of the Princeville Holiday Tournament in Princeville.

Mendota 63, Gardner-South Wilmington 19: Cole Tillman scored 18 points, dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds as the Trojans cruised in the consolation bracket of the Plano Christmas Classic.

Cam Kelly and Aden Tillman each added nine points for Mendota, which plays Plano in Friday’s consolation semifinals.

Lexington 76, Putnam County 24: Drew Carlson scored 10 points as the Panthers lost to the No. 2-seeded Minutemen in the first round of the Shipyard Showdown in Seneca.

Seneca 78, Earlville 26: Adam Waite scored 13 points as the Red Raiders lost to the No. 1-seeded Fighting Irish in the first round of the Shipyard Showdown in Seneca.

LaMoille 55, Calvary Christian 49: The Lions opened with a victory in the LaMoille Holiday Classic in LaMoille.

Galva 69, DePue 36: The Little Giants lost in the first round of the LaMoille Holiday Classic in LaMoille.

North Lawndale 42, Fieldcrest 40: The Knights lost on a last second shot in the opening round of the State Farm Holiday Classic in Normal.

Eddie Lorton and Layten Gerdes scored 10 points each for Fieldcrest.

East Dubuque 70, Princeton 48: The Tigers lost in the Hutchins Holiday Classic in Sherrard.
