Hall girls basketball earns No. 3 seed in sub-sectional

The IHSA released the pairings for the girls basketball state tournament on Friday.

Hall earned the best seed among area teams as the No. 3 seed in sub-sectional A of the Class 2A Rock Falls Sectional. Also in the sub-sectional, Princeton is the No. 4, Bureau Valley is the No. 7 and Mendota is the No. 12.

The Red Devils will play in the Erie Regional at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 against the winner of No. 9 Erie-Prophetstown and No. 10 Morrison. The title game is 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20.

In the Princeton Regional, Bureau Valley will host No. 8 Somonauk-Leland at 3 p.m. Feb. 15 in a quarterfinal, while Mendota will play at No. 6 Sandwich the same day.

In the semifinals Feb. 18, No. 1 Alleman will play the BV/Somonauk winner at 6 p.m. followed by the host Tigresses against the Sandwich/Mendota winner. The title game is 7 p.m. Feb. 20.

Also in 2A, Fieldcrest will host No. 11 Midwest Central in a quarterfinal on Feb. 15 with the winner advancing to play No. 1 Deer Creek-Mackinaw at 6 p.m. Feb. 17. The title game is 7 p.m. Feb. 20.

In Class 3A, La Salle-Peru earned the No. 8 seed in sub-sectional B of the Ottawa Sectional and will play in a Washington Regional quarterfinal on Feb. 15 at No. 6 Metamora. The winner faces No. 1 Washington in a semifinal on Feb. 17 with the title game at 7 p.m. Feb. 20.

In sub-sectional B of the Class 1A Hinckley-Big Rock Sectional, St. Bede is the No. 5 seed, Earlville is the No. 9 and Putnam County is the No. 10.

In the St. Bede Regional, Putnam County will play at Earlville and No. 11 Gardner-South Wilmington will play at St. Bede in quarterfinals on Feb. 15.

In the semifinals on Feb. 18, No. 2 Amboy will face the Putnam County/Earlville winner at 6 p.m. followed by No. 3 Marquette against the St. Bede/GSW winner.

The championship is 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20.

Also in 1A, Henry-Senachwine earned the No. 5 seed in sub-sectional A of the Midland Sectional and will host No. 12 Peoria Heights in a Roanoke-Benson Regional quarterfinal on Feb. 15 with the winner advancing to play No. 3 Mt. Pulaski at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17. The title game is 6 p.m. Feb. 20.
