BOYS WRESTLING
At Maple Park: La Salle-Peru had five wrestlers place third at the Class 2A Kaneland Regional on Saturday to qualify for next weekend’s Washington Sectional.
Gianni Verucchi (106 pounds), Reegan Kellett (138), Charley Clifford (150), Zach Pocivasek (157) and Eric Mateika (285) all finished third.
Clifford and Pocivazek each won their third-place match by fall, Kellett won by 17-0 technical fall and Mateika won by 4-0 decision.
BOYS BASKETBALL
St. Bede 61, Amboy 52 (OT): Kaden Nauman scored 18 points to lead the Bruins to a nonconference victory in Amboy.
Gino Ferrari had 15 points for St. Bede, while Carson Riva added 10 points.
Bureau Valley 50 Hall 47: Logan Philhower hit a 3-pointer with 44.6 seconds left and Elijah Endress had a steal and layup to lift the Storm to a nonconference win over former Three Rivers Conference rival Hall in Spring Valley.
Endress led the Storm with 24 points, pouring in 17 in the second half. Hulsing added nine points.
Jack Jablonski scored a team-high 16 points for the Red Devils with Chace Sterling adding 10.
U-High 52, Fieldcrest 49: Eddie Lorton scored 18 points as the Knights lost a nonconference game in Minonk.
Jordan Heider had 15 points for Fieldcrest, while Kash Klendworth contributed 10 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Bureau Valley 86, Galva 44: The Storm drained 15 3-pointers en route to a school-record 86 points to win their Lincoln Trail Conference opener at Kewanee Wethersfield.
BV broke the old school mark of 84 points set in 1997-98.
Libby Endress led the Storm with 16 points, while Kadyn Haage had 15 points and Brynley Doty added 13 points.
The Storm will play ROWVA on Monday at Wethersfield.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Milwaukee Area Tech 104, IVCC 95: Roderick Watson-Pearcey nearly had a triple-double with 18 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists as the Eagles lost a region game in Milwaukee.
Qu’amar Hobbs had 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals for IVCC (9-17), while Hunter Staton hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points and Ayipey Salinas added 14 points.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Milwaukee Area Tech 85, IVCC 52: Jasmine Garman scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Eagles lost a region game in Milwaukee.
Nevaeh Sansone and Marisa Vickers each contributed 10 points for IVCC (3-18).
