Streator library to conduct Disguise a Gingerbread Man contest

Winner can win $10 Robux card

The dome and mural restoration project at the Streator Public Library is two thirds of the way complete. Mural restoration is ongoing.

Children are invited to participate in the Streator Public Library’s Disguise a Gingerbread Man contest the week of Dec. 16.

Come into the library at 130 S. Park St. to grab a gingerbread man template from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Dec. 19, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Dec. 20 and Dec. 21, and use at-home supplies to disguise him into one of your favorite book characters. Whoever wins the contest gets a $10 Robux card.

Additionally, the library will host a Christmas tree Scavenger Hunt the week of Dec. 16. Search the library and find all of the hidden items. The theme changes weekly.

4 to 5 p.m. Monday Dec. 16: Arts and crafts, young children. Come to the library to create cute and fun projects to take home.

4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17: Little’s Art Time, ages 3 to 9. Get creative with friends in the library. Learn how to draw or have fun with paint.

5 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17: Gingerbread storytime, young children. Cozy vibes at storytime with hot cocoa and stories to warm the heart.

5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18: Cooking Club, teens/adults. Discover some new recipes. Bring a dish or try some samplers. That’s what cooking club is all about.

3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18: Game Time, ages 10 through teens. Video games, board games, puzzles and more.

5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18: Let’s Talk: True Crime, teens/adults. Are you intrigued by true crimes? Love the thrill of solving the case? Then you’ll love this club! Join the library to chat about some of the craziest true crimes to happen.

10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19: Playful pages, children 4 and younger. A toddler playdate hosted in the library.

4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19: Link Up, teens. A teen outlet/discussion group that covers everything from comedy, trivia and pop culture. Talk about your favorite topics and learn about some new ones.

1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20: Tech talk, public. An open opportunity for patrons to come in and ask tech based questions to tech savvy people.

1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21: Cork Reindeer, adults. Stop by the library to make a cute and easy reindeer out of wine corks.

3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21: The Gift Wrap Cafe, public. Have some coffee and wrap some gifts in the library.
