Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley (YSB) has been serving the community in Princeton and the surrounding area for over 25 years, but recently increased their profile here significantly when they moved to a new office at 20 W. Century Drive.
The programs that are provided in Bureau County include: Foster Care, Runaway & Homeless Youth Services, Counseling, Juvenile Justice, and Hispanic Services. This wide variety of services benefit many individuals and families throughout the community.
In 2024, YSB enjoyed the opportunity to become more involved in the Princeton community as a whole. An OpenHouse in August welcomed the public to tour the new office; the staff has enjoyed a warm welcome to the Princeton Chamber of Commerce; and the staff greeted hundreds of kids and parents at the Trunk or Treat event at the fairgrounds.
In addition to increasing their public-facing activities in Princeton, YSB welcomed Princeton’s own Matt Comerford as its new Chief Financial Officer. Matt is a lifelong resident of Tiskilwa and Princeton. He has served his entire career in non-profit and governmental leadership roles, focusing on rural and underserved populations.
When asked about his new role, Matt said, “I’m excited in my new role serving YSB to support and enrich my local community.”
Area residents are encouraged to learn more about YSB and get involved! Counselors provide mental health care to the public, and accept most insurance plans. The Hispanic Services team works with immigrants and refugees, and there is ALWAYS a need for foster families for both emergency and traditional care.
