Girls basketball: Bureau Valley, Logan win SRC openers

Princeton Logan and Bureau Valley

The Bureau Valley and Princeton Logan girls basketball teams won Starved Rock Conference tournament openers Saturday in Mendota.

In the seventh-grade, Logan’s top-seeded Lions defeated No. 8 Streator, 40-12, while No. 2 BV beat LaSalle Lincoln, 22-7. They advance to Tuesday’s semifinals with Logan facing No. 4 Peru at 4:30 p.m. and BV playing No. 3 Ottawa at 6:30 p.m. at Mendota Northbrook School.

In the eighth-grade, the top-seeded Storm defeated No. 8 Mendota , 42-2, and No. 3 Logan beat No. 6 Spring Valley JFK, 38-16. BV will face No. 4 Peru at 5:30 p.m. and Logan will meet No. 2 Ottawa at 7:30 p.m. in Tuesday’s semifinals.

The finals will be held Thursday with the third-place games at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. followed by the title games at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
