OMAHA, Neb. - After spending 18 days on the injured list, Chicago Cubs minor league outfielder Michael Hermosillo returned to the Iowa Cubs lineup Tuesday.
Boy, did he return.
Hermosillo doubled and homered — his home run a third-inning solo shot, his ninth longball of the season — Tuesday in the Triple-A I-Cubs’ 10-2 road victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers. The Ottawa High School graduate also drew a base on balls while serving as Iowa’s designated hitter.
For the season, Hermosillo is batting .324 over 136 at-bats with nine home runs and 26 runs batted in. He was placed on the injured list July 23 with a hamstring ailment.
The Iowa Cubs continue their six-game series with the Storm Chasers on Wednesday night.
