A La Salle County man in his 60s and a woman in her 90s died from complications related to COVID-19.
Their deaths are the 274th and 275th COVID-related deaths in La Salle County since the beginning of the pandemic – and the 43rd and 44th deaths in 2021.
There were 64 new cases Sunday and Monday – 33 of them residents of Sheridan – and 151 people were removed from isolation in that same time period. In total, there have been 10,732 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, and of those, 8,171 individuals have been removed from isolation.
Inmates are counted as Sheridan residents. The Illinois Department of Corrections reported 54 active cases among inmates in the Sheridan Correctional Center and six active cases among prison staff. There have been 28 new inmate cases since Thursday. Staff are only counted in the county’s total if they reside there.
On Sunday, 425 more doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered to La Salle County residents, increasing the total number of doses to 20,578. There are 5,941 residents fully vaccinated, 5.43% of the county’s population.
Of the 412 county residents tested Friday, the latest data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 4.6% were positive with COVID-19. From Feb. 13 to 19, the seven-day positivity rate was 3.5%.

• Utica is up two to 179.
• Streator is up one to 1,843.
• Lostant is up one to 62.
• Ransom is up one to 37.
• Rutland is up one to 24.
• Somonauk remains at 344.
• Leland remains at 156.
• Wenona remains at 101.
• Tonica remains at 91.
• Grand Ridge remains at 85.
• Serena remains at 54.
• Millington remains at 49.
• Cedar Point remains at 24.
• Dana remains at 23.
• Troy Grove remains at 16.
A man in his 80s, seven men in their 60s, a woman in her 60s, six men in their 50s, two women in their 50s, 11 men in their 40s, two women in their 40s, 10 men in their 30s, two women in their 30s, 14 men in their 20s, two women in their 20s, three teenage boys, two boys younger than 13 and two girls younger than 13 make up the new cases Monday. Forty-nine of the 64 new cases countywide were men 20 or older.
