Business Happenings: Earlville drive-in set to reopen April 16

Capacity will be limited to 175 vehicles

Another sign we’ve made it through another Illinois winter: the Route 34 Drive-In in Earlville is reopening the weekend of April 16-18.

The box office will open at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday for showings of “Sixteen Candles” and “The Breakfast Club.” Movies start at dusk. New movie release dates still are being delayed because of COVID-19.

Moviegoers should note the drive-in is cash-only, no cards or checks are accepted. Also tickets are not sold online or advance, it is first come, first serve at the ticket booth.

Access will be limited to 175 vehicles. Social distancing guidelines still will be in place. Moviegoers will use face coverings when social distancing is not possible.

Radio sound is recommended by car radio or portable radio at 87.9 FM.

Movie nights will start with a vintage cartoon before the first feature, then a brief intermission, followed by the second feature.

April 23-25: Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club

April 30-May 2: Weird Science, Uncle Buck

May 7-9: Weird Science, Uncle Buck
