Body found in Illinois River at Allen Park in Ottawa

A man was found dead Friday morning face down in the Illinois River on the east end of Allen Park in Ottawa.

Ottawa police and fire personnel responded to a report of a body found at 9:51 a.m. Friday and they were able to quickly remove it from the water. The La Salle County Coroner’s Office was called.

The victim has been identified, but the name is being withheld pending notification of family members of the deceased.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa Police Department and the La Salle County Coroner’s Office. The Times will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
