Jill Seaton will take over leadership of the Streator Family YMCA as its next CEO starting in May.
Seaton, a Streator resident for seven years, started serving as the Y’s marketing director earlier this year.
“I’m honored to have been chosen to lead our Streator Family YMCA,” Seaton said in a news release. “We are blessed to have this wonderful facility right here in Streator, and I look forward to working with the dedicated staff and our loyal members, as well as serving our Streator community.”
The Streator Y has operated under a management agreement with the Ottawa Y since November 2020 to provide time for the YMCA board to hire a new CEO. The Streator Y will close out the agreement in early May when Seaton shifts into the CEO role.
``We’ve been so lucky to have neighbors like Ottawa to help us in this interim time,” board President Ellie Eccleston said in a news release.
Seaton has worked in education for 14 years, with experience as an educator and a technology and community relations coordinator. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and a master’s degree from Benedictine University.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the CEO search, the YMCA board and staff have worked to uphold the Y’s core values, according to a news release from the Streator Family YMCA.
“This hasn’t been an easy time for any of us during this pandemic, but we are hopeful for better days ahead,” Seaton said. “We want our members to know we are here for them and will continue to assist in the healing process by reaching out to our youth and community. The future is bright!”
Eccleston expressed gratitude to the Streator community for its support during the transition.
“We know that change can be difficult, but we are so excited for what the future holds for the Streator YMCA,” Eccleston said. “We have a big vision for the future and we are excited to see these things come to fruition. We hope that you come and stay a while, we’re glad to have you.”
