Ottawa offers up to $500 for businesses to provide live music

Establishments can receive funding for one event

The Special Events Committee in Ottawa announced the 2021 Music in the Streets program.

The Special Events Committee will fund up to $500 for an establishment to provide live music in the streets this summer on a Friday or Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. An establishment can receive funding for one event. The city will close off the street by the establishment, provide a small stage, garbage cans and picnic tables. Each establishment will be responsible for booking the band and picking up debris after the event.

To apply, the establishment must complete the Ottawa Special Events Request for Funds form, found at www.cityofottawa.org. The Special Events Committee meets the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 301 W. Madison St. Requests must be received no later than noon on Monday before each meeting to be considered for funding.
