Starbucks in Ottawa set to open

12 years since Ottawa’s first Starbucks closed

Twelve years after Starbucks closed a location on West Etna Road in Ottawa, it is set to open Wednesday, June 30, at 3001 N. Fairfield Lane — no more than 1,500 feet from where it was first located.

The new Starbucks is opening in the lot north of Culver’s just south of Interstate 80.

Starbucks opened at 110 W. Etna Road in November 2007 and closed in March 2009. The store was one of 600 underperforming stores to close between July 2008 and March 2009 in a companywide effort to ensure long-term profitable growth.

Ottawa location will become the second standalone Starbucks in La Salle County. The other is located at 5255 Route 251 in Peru. There are two other Starbucks locations in Peru: one in Target and one in HyVee and there is a Starbucks located inside Kroger in Streator.
