Missing Somonauk man located, deceased, agency says

Garnie Dell Rice, 36, of Somonauk, who was last seen Aug. 30, 2020, has been reported located and deceased, according to the Missing Persons Awareness Network on Friday.

In March, the Missing Persons Awareness Network announced it would provide a $7,000 reward — no questions asked — for the direct location of Rice.

According to the network, Rice met with two men in Ottawa said to work at C&J Sealcoating & Asphalt Repair and had not been seen or heard from since. He told his family he was going to work in Chicago Heights and the surrounding areas.

“Our hearts are with Garnie’s family and those who know and love him,” the Missing Person Awareness Network said Friday.

The La Salle County Sheriff’s Office, which also has been assisting on the case, has not released any updated information regarding the incident as of Friday night.
