The La Salle County Health Department reported a sixth COVID-related death this month.
A man in his 60s died from complications related to COVID-19.
There were nine COVID-related deaths in all of March of last year and 23 deaths last month, according to the health department. There have been 457 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
La Salle County’s Community Level remains low based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. La Salle County has a case rate/total cases (last seven days) of 49.69/100,000; new hospital admissions of confirmed COVID-19 (last seven days) of 4 or 3.3/100,000; and a percentage of staffed inpatient beds in use by patients with confirmed COVID-19 (last 7 days) of 1%.
There were 50 new COVID-19 cases confirmed since March 18. Making up the cases are seven boys younger than 13, two teenage boys, three teenage girls, a man in his 20s, five women in their 20s, two men in their 30s, four women in their 30s, two men in their 40s, two women in their 40s, five men in their 50s, two women in their 50s, two men in their 60s, seven women in their 60s, two women in their 70s, two men in their 80s and two women in their 80s.
Since March 18, there have been 146 residents removed from isolation across the county.

La Salle County Health Department urges everyone 5 years and older to get vaccinated and all eligible individuals to get a booster. Individuals who need to start the COVID-19 vaccination series or a booster, call the La Salle County Health Department at 815-433-3366 to schedule an appointment. The health department has Johnson and Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer available.

There have been 63,185 La Salle County residents fully-vaccinated, which is 57.74% of the county’s population; 67,565 residents with at least one dose of vaccine, which is 61.74% of the county’s population; and 33,745 boosters administered.
